Everyone deserves basic rights to live

 I'm so tired of the world and how it is currently, especially here in the united states. People deserve to exist, they deserve basic common decency, they deserve love and compassion. Trying to erase a group of people from existence takes us back to the dark ages. Burning books takes us back to a time when people were afraid to speak out. People marched in the streets for a reason, to protest what they thought was unfair. Now that's happening again. People I love and care about are the new targets. This is not okay.  How can you say that you love a person, a specific person, if you hate their way of life, who they love, what they choose to do with their bodies? That's not love. Love is unconditional. You cannot love someone and want to change their most treasured part of themselves. Enough is enough.

There have been so many innocent lives lost in the past 2 years and this one has barely started. It's senseless violence. These are kids, children who have gotten their hands on weapons that they shouldn't even be able to touch. If there were better laws against such, they wouldn't be able to.  My daughter shouldn't have to be afraid to wear light up shoes to school. She's 8. Now read that again and think about it. Light up shoes make her a target. She's never done anything to anyone that would make it okay to take her life. She's never even seen a gun up close, but she knows that light up shoes could mean that she doesn't come back home to us at the end of the day.  This sweet innocent child has never had to understand until recently why her parents are scared for her and her friends when they step into a school building where teachers are trying their best. I Refuse to be Silent

 You must understand that compassion doesn't make a person weak. If you think that, then you should just move along, this blog isn't for you, but if you're here for words meant to make you think about how others may feel, or how a little kindness does make a difference, then stay.  I refuse to be silent. I have let others walk all over me like I am a doormat before and it made my self esteem and worth feel like nothing at all. I have watched the world do the same to others, afraid to speak up because the world can be such a cruel place to anyone who is different. Those who seek to opress others will always find a way to make sure they are heard, that they drown out the voices of anyone who opposes their views.
